RADIESSE® & SCULPTRA®
JUVEDERM®, RHA® AND MORE
Smooth, youthful skin has plenty of collagen, which serves to give it its structure and provide a framework for moisture. Unfortunately, there is a reason this protein is associated with youth. As we age, collagen breaks down more quickly and is replaced less regularly, so it gradually diminishes, leading to the development of wrinkles, harsh angles on the face, and other signs of aging.
At South Coast Dermatology in Weymouth, we use dermal fillers to address the cosmetic problems associated with collagen loss. There are more than half a dozen options available, allowing us to tailor each treatment to the individual.
DERMAL FILLERS
Before your treatment, no matter the specific dermal filler used, you will generally sit with a topical anesthetic on your skin to make the procedure more comfortable. Then the skin is cleansed. Many fillers contain a small amount of lidocaine to minimize discomfort. Injection sessions typically take 15 to 30 minutes, with variations depending on the filler used and areas to be treated.
Depending on how fast your body breaks down the filler and where it is injected, results that address collagen loss and other signs of aging can last from months to years.
Most patients experience minimal side effects. Some have swelling, which typically resolves in one to two days. Some patients will have bruising. The chance of bruising can be minimized by avoiding blood thinners (aspirin, NSAIDS, vitamin E, fish oil, garlic supplements, and alcohol) for one week prior to treatment. Some patients benefit from eating fresh pineapple the day before treatment due to the Bromelain enzyme in the fruit, which has been reported to minimize swelling and bruising.

JUVEDERM® Collection Fillers
Juvederm® is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Once injected, it supports the skin's surface, leading to a firmer, smoother, more youthful face. It is particularly effective for nasolabial creases (AKA "smile lines") and marionette lines (creases that appear at the corners of the mouth that result in a sad expression). It can also minimize the appearance of scars and enhance your lips.
Since Juvederm® stimulates new collagen formation to some extent, regular treatments make it possible that in time you will need it less often.
Juvederm® Collection of Hualuronic Acid fillers are used to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles and folds, enhance facial features such as cheeks, lips, and jawlines and includes Volux, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella and Juvederm Ultra.
RHA Collection®
RHA Collection is a line of Resilient Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers designed to treat dynamic wrinkles and folds – those caused by repeated facial movements, like smiling or squinting. Unlike traditional fillers, RHA uses a gentle manufacturing process to preserve its hyaluronic acid's structure, allowing it to adapt to natural facial movements for a natural-looking and expressive result, rather than creating a stiff or frozen appearance. The collection includes several formulas, like Redensity, RHA 2, 3, and 4, each for specific areas and depths of correction, offering a tailored approach for a rejuvenated look.
SCULPTRA® AESTHETIC
Sculptra® is a cosmetic treatment that provides long-term volume restoration for areas on the face that are losing collagen and changing with the aging process. A series of two to four sessions at four- to six-week intervals promotes new collagen formation to fill the hollows under the eyes and through the cheeks and temples for long-lasting results.
South Coast Dermatology participates in the ASPIRE Galderma Rewards program, which gives you ways to earn exclusive rewards, bonuses, and discounts by choosing Restylane®, Restylane® Silk, and Sculptra®.
RADIESSE®
Radiesse is an FDA-approved dermal filler made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a water-based gel that provides immediate volume to smooth wrinkles and folds. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, it also acts as a scaffold, stimulating the body's natural production of collagen and elastin for long- term, natural-looking volume and skin tightening. Radiesse is used for facial rejuvenation in the mid-to- lower face, jawline, chin, and hands.
CAN YOU COMBINE FILLERS?
Yes! Our physicians can use a combination of fillers to deliver the results you are seeking, as well as pair them with neuromodulators. They can also work well with a variety of collagen-stimulating and skin-tightening options, including laser treatments and skin care products to achieve a complete plan for facial rejuvenation based on your cosmetic goals.
